Are Evy sunscreens biodegradable/safe for coral reefs?
All UV filters have some resistance to biodegradation, and their full environmental impact is still being studied. All EVY sunscreens are safety tested, and every ingredient is evaluated for potential toxins according to the Cosmetic Products Regulation (EC) 1223/2009. Trace levels in EVY products are well below the maximum levels allowed in finished cosmetics.
EVY sunscreens are highly water-resistant, meaning they stay on the skin even after swimming. This helps reduce the amount of sunscreen that washes off into the sea. Because the mousse maintains most of its SPF protection for up to 8 hours, it also reduces the need for frequent reapplication and the overall amount of product used.
Are Evy Sunscreens cruelty-free?
None of Evy products in the EU have been tested on animals as it is forbidden by EU Reg nr. 1223/2009. Nevertheless, Evy cannot guarantee that not a single ingredient has been tested on animals previously by a third party, as many have been preserved for a long time. That would be dishonest. Evy products have been tested on humans for 20 years now. Animal skin is different from human skin, and animal tests are not only unnecessary, they are also outdated and unethical.
Can Evy Sunscreens stain clothes/swimsuit?
All sunscreens can potentially stain clothes, in particular white clothes. Our own tests have shown that the product can leave a faint yellow stain on white clothes – which usually can be washed off. Therefore, it is important to let the product fully penetrate into your skin. This reduces the risk of staining clothes. However, it is not possible to check for reactions to unknown chemicals in swimming pools etc. Some of our newest and most up-to-date products contain Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate, which prevents clothes from staining.
There is no open jar symbol (PAO). How do I know the expiry date of Evy Sunscreens?
Thanks to the aerosol container, you never need to open an EVY bottle and therefore the open jar symbol (Period After Opening) is not applicable. The bottle only releases the required amount of product and maintains the same integrity as an airtight can. Since it never comes into contact with oxygen, it never turns rancid, which is why EVY can be completely free of preservatives and alcohol. The best/before date can be found on the underside of the product but mainly serves as a guideline.
Can I travel with Evy sunscreens in hand luggage?
Yes. 100 ml or smaller bottles are normally ok in your handluggage but bigger need to be checked the bottle in a plastic bag and then placing it among your clothes to protect against and absorb bumps as aerosol bottles are more sensitive to careless handling than plastic bottles.
